Shannon is featured as an author to check out for Day 21 of The Brown Bookshelf’s 28 Days of Black History Month campaign, which highlights a different Black author or illustrator of children’s lit for each day of Black History Month.
Please join Shannon on the campus of Minneapolis Community and Technical College, in downtown Minneapolis, for a reading and discussion of SEE NO COLOR.
From the MCTC website: “MCTC’s Common Book reading and discussion this month will be See No Color. This Common Book reading is designed to provide members of the campus community structured opportunities to engage in conversations informed by the work of Shannon Gibney, M.F.A., in her book, See No Color. This event is designed to provide opportunities for discussions of such concepts as racial identity, colorblindness, multiracial identity, racism, and various intersections such as race and gender. In addition to being the author of this very important book Ms. Gibney has served as a voice for matters of race, equity and privilege both locally and nationally.”
